Development of an industry related application based on multiplatform sequencing and newest bioinformatic analysis tools
The aim of the Metatxn project is the development of molecular biology methods for phylogenic characterization and analysis of gene expression patterns of microbial communities as present in enviromental, food and industrial samples.
The project will be performed by multiplatform sequencing, using all leading sequencing technologies, including Roche GS FLX+ system, Illumina HiSeq 2000 and PacBio RS from Pacific Biosciences. For the bioinformatic analysis and correlation of the obtained data, we will combine freeware tools and proprietary pipelines. Thus, this provides a time and cost efficient method for the combined analysis of genomes, transcriptomes and epigenomes of microbial communities.
The Metatxn Project is funded by the BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology).
